I am Zachary D. Crees, MD, an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine and the Assistant Clinical Director for the Washington University Center for Gene and Cellular Immunotherapy. Clinically, I specialize in treating hematologic malignancies, including multiple myeloma, with a focus on stem cell transplantation and cellular immunotherapies. One current research focuses of mine is on the intersection of hematopoietic signaling mechanisms within the bone marrow niche and developing novel strategies for hematopoietic stem cell mobilization for use in transplantation and gene-edited cellular therapies to treat of hematologic diseases; including autologous transplant in multiple myeloma (PMID: 37069359), allogeneic transplant in hematologic malignancies (PMID: 37327120) and gene-edited therapies for sickle-cell disease (NCT05618301). In addition, I am interested in developing novel strategies to mitigate transplant-related toxicities and improve patient outcomes.
