Laura Trainor is a final year PhD candidate in the Myeloma Research Laboratory at the University of Adelaide, based at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute. She graduated with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (majoring in microbiology, immunology and physiology) in 2018, and completed an Honours Degree in physiology in 2019 in the Myeloma Research Laboratory. Her research focusses on characterising the bone marrow microenvironment of myeloma and MGUS patients, primarily using single cell technology. She has a particular focus on the stromal compartment of the microenvironment, especially adipocyte involvement in myeloma disease. She is passionate about identifying new treatment targets and biomarkers within the microenvironment that may assist current clinical practises.
