Javier de la Rubia is the Head of the Department of Hematology at the University Hospital La Fe in Valencia, Spain. He earned his medical degree, completed his residency, and completed a fellowship in Hematology at the Clinical Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the University Hospital La Fe in Valencia, Spain. At the Hospital La Fe was the coordinator of the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Program of the department and was responsible for programs involving patients with multiple myeloma. He moved to the University Hospital Dr Peset in Valencia in 2014, where he worked as Head of the Hematology Department. In November 2020, he was appointed Head of the Hematology Department University Hospital La Fe in Valencia, Spain. He is a Professor of Hematology at the Universidad Católica in Valencia.
He is a member of the European Hematology Association, the International Myeloma Working Group, the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, the Spanish Association of Hematology, the Spanish Group of Apheresis, and the International Myeloma Society. In addition, he is a member of the advisory board of the Spanish Myeloma Group since 2000.
His main research interests involve the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma and other monoclonal gammopathies. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, several book chapters and more than 600 abstracts at national and international meetings.
