Dr. Pichiorri is a tenured Professor and co-leader of translational science in the multiple myeloma (MM) clinical team in the Judy and Bernard Briskin Center for Multiple Myeloma Research within the Hematological Research Institute and in the Department of Hematologic Malignancies translational Science at the Beckman Research Institute at City of Hope. To date, her scholarly and career accomplishments include more than 100 publications in high-impact journals including Blood, Blood advances, Journal Experimental Medicine, PNAS, Cell Stem cell, JCI, Journal nuclear Medicine, Nucleic Acid Research, Leukemia, New England Journal of Medicine, and many others.
She leads a laboratory that is focused on the study of MM and acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) biology, immunology, and therapeutics. She has more than 15 years of expertise in studying hematopoietic malignancies, antibody therapies, cancer preclinical models and correlative studies in Phase 1 and Phase 2 trials. She is currently the PI and co-PI of several NCI-funded awards and the laboratory investigator of a P30 supplement award, and two NCI Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP) funded trials. She has 7 patent applications with three out of seven licensed to external companies. Based on her laboratory research, she has recently developed novel anti-CD38 based therapies, including anti-CD38 radio conjugated antibodies both for imaging and therapy which are currently in Phase 1 trials at her institution.
