Dr. Marc-Andrea Baertsch (MD) is a physician scientist at the Translational Myeloma Research Group led by Prof. Marc-S. Raab and Prof. Niels Weinhold at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Rheumatology at Heidelberg University Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany. His research focuses on the role of the bone marrow microenvironment in multiple myeloma and the improvment of multiple myeloma treatment through clincal trials within the German-Speaking Myeloma Multicenter Group (GMMG). Supported by a Career Development Award from Paula and Rodger Riney Foundation/IMS, he joined Prof. Garry Nolan's lab at Stanford University during his postdoc (2020-2023) to decipher the spatial architecture of the bone marrow microenvironment and its transformation during myeloma pathogenesis through cutting-edge multiplex imaging technologies.
