Michel Delforge is chairman of the Leuven Cancer Institute and clinical head of the Department of Hematology at the University of Leuven, Belgium. He trained in Leuven and later at the University of Minnesota, USA, obtaining a doctoral degree in biomedical sciences. Prof. Delforge directs the plasma cell dyscrasia unit at the University of Leuven and is the current chairman of the Myeloma Working group of the Belgian Hematological Society. His topics of interest involve supportive care, including management of therapy-related adverse events and mechanisms of drug resistance. He holds the Luc Fraiture Chair in Hematology at the University of Leuven and has authored or co-authored more than 100 manuscripts and several book chapters in the field of hematology.
