Dr. Masood A. Shammas is a Scientist in Translational Cancer Research, currently working as a Lead Scientist at Harvard (Dana Farber) Cancer Institute, Boston, USA. He completed his doctorate and postdoctoral trainings at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, USA. From 2001-2006, he worked as Instructor at Harvard Medical School and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, USA. From 2006-2009, he worked as Assistant Professor of Surgery and Director, Surgical Oncology and Developmental Therapeutics Laboratory at Wayne State University and Karmanos Cancer Institute, Detroit, USA. In 2009, he moved back to Harvard (Dana Farber) Cancer Institute, Boston, USA. He has authored/co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed scientific publications and serves or has served as editor, guest editor and/or reviewer for several scientific journals. He also serves as external examiner and consultant for universities abroad. He has trained a number of physicians and scientists who are working as professionals in various universities. His major focus of research is to understand mechanisms underlying genomic instability, oncogenesis and cancer progression, with the goal to develop novel treatments which will preserve genomic integrity or minimize or reverse chemotherapy-induced genomic toxicity, while killing cancer cells.
