Professor, Vice Director
Guangzhou Medical University
Xinliang Mao PhD. MD. is a full professor in Guangzhou Medical University of China. After obtained a doctoral degree, Dr, Mao finished his postdoctoral training in Stanford University and the University of Toronto. Dr. Mao is mainly interested in the pathophysiology of myelomagenesis and anti-myeloma drug discovery. Dr. Mao has co-authored more than 80 scientific articles and his team elucidated the stability modulation of c-Maf, MafA and MafB proteins, the high risk factors in the prognosis of multiple myeloma. They found targeting the ubiquitin-proteasome pathways that control the Maf protein stability might be a novel strategy for myeloma treatment. The Mao lab has also filed more than 20 patents aiming to treat myeloma, of which some have been moved to clinical trials.
