My name is Konstantinos Soureas, I am a Biologist, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), holding a M.Sc. in Clinical Biochemistry-Molecular Diagnostics, NKUA. During my post-grad studies, I joined Professor Scorilas Andreas team in Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Biology, NKUA, where I studied the clinical impact of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), and especially tRNA derived fragments (tRFs) in multiple myeloma. Currently I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry – Molecular Diagnostics, Second Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, "P. & A. Kyriakou" Children's Hospital, Athens, Greece and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Biology, NKUA, Athens, Greece, under the supervision of Associate Professor Avgeris Margaritis. My research focuses on the delineation of the functional and clinical impact of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in hematological malignancies, and especially in multiple myeloma. Recently, we published our work “miRNA-seq identification and clinical validation of CD138+ and circulating miR-25 in treatment response of multiple myeloma” in Journal of Translational Medicine (10.1186/s12967-023-04034-5), while we highlighted the importance of ncRNAs in the orchestration of cancer quiescence in our review article “Cancer quiescence: non-coding RNAs in the spotlight” published in Trends in Molecular Medicine (10.1016/j.molmed.2023.07.003).
